Security agencies have reassured Kenyans of their commitment to maintaining safety during the festive season. In a statement issued on Monday, December 23, 2024, the Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) highlighted the critical role of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Kenya’s elite counter-terrorism unit, in keeping the country secure.
CTP revealed that the SOG would collaborate closely with other security agencies to promote safety through intelligence-driven operations designed to eliminate potential terror threats.
“The Special Operations Group (SOG), renowned for their expertise in areas such as Lamu and the North Eastern Region, will work with other security agencies to ensure Kenyans are safe during this festive period,” read the statement.
The CTP emphasized the importance of collective effort, urging Kenyans to report any suspicious activities immediately to the relevant authorities.
“Let us all work together by cooperating with security agencies and sharing information about any unusual activities. Together, we can make this festive season peaceful and safe for everyone.”
Why Early Planning is Key
The assurance from security agencies also underscores the importance of planning early for a peaceful holiday. Preparing in advance allows for better coordination between security teams and communities, reducing last-minute risks. For individuals, early planning ensures smoother travel, secure gatherings, and fewer disruptions.
