Bouncer Murders a Man Outside a Club in Nairobi

Police are searching for a nightclub bouncer linked to a fatal altercation involving a reveler in Nairobi’s central business district.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred at dawn on Sunday near the Odeon Cinema area outside Somer Club. The victim, identified as Brian Mwendo, was reportedly attacked during a confrontation outside the club. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he later died. Authorities said the motive behind the altercation remains unclear.

Police have launched a manhunt for the bouncer, who they want to question as part of ongoing investigations. Cases involving violent confrontations at entertainment venues have previously led to both fatalities and legal consequences for those involved.

In a separate incident, confusion emerged over the handling of a body discovered in Limuru, Kiambu County. The unidentified man was found dead in Limuru town on Sunday morning, and police transported the body to the Nairobi City Mortuary. However, attendants declined to admit it, citing a directive limiting intake to cases originating within Nairobi County due to space constraints.

Officers then moved the body to Kiambu County Referral Hospital mortuary, where staff also initially refused admission pending identification by relatives. The body was returned to Limuru Sub-County as authorities struggled to find a facility willing to receive it.

Following intervention by Kiambu County officials, the body was taken back to Kiambu County Referral Hospital. Just as admission procedures were underway, staff reportedly received instructions to transfer the body to Tigoni Sub-County Hospital mortuary instead.

Exhausted by the back-and-forth, officers left the body at the facility without formal admission. Officials indicated that authorities were still discussing the way forward on Monday.
