A 23-year-old Colombian woman, Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez, known as “La Muñeca” (The Doll), has been arrested in connection with a series of gang-related killings, including the ambush murder of her ex-boyfriend. The arrest took place in Barrancabermeja, Colombia, and was reported by The New York Post.
Authorities believe Rodriguez worked for the Los de la M gang and led a group of hitmen who spread fear in rural areas of the Magdalena Medio region. Police also detained two accomplices during the operation: Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, 24, known as “Gorda Sicaria” (Fat Hitwoman), and a man identified as “Leopoldo.” Weapons, including a revolver and a 9mm pistol, were seized and are being analyzed for links to recent homicides.
Rodriguez’s arrest followed the murder of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus, in Piedecuesta on July 23. According to police, she lured him to meet under the guise of resolving a financial dispute. Instead, he was fatally shot by two men on a motorcycle, allegedly acting on Rodriguez’s orders.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrera described the arrests as a major step in dismantling the gang’s criminal operations, leading to increased calm in the region. However, Bucaramanga, a nearby city with over 1.3 million residents, continues to face high levels of violence, with a homicide reported every three days.
Charges against Rodriguez and her accomplices are pending, while investigations continue into their involvement in recent killings.
