NTSA Suspends Multiple PSV Operators Over Safety Violations

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended several public service vehicle (PSV) operators after citing serious safety breaches and repeated traffic violations. In a notice issued Monday, the regulator said the affected companies failed to comply with requirements under the Traffic Act and NTSA safety regulations, with some also linked to fatal crashes during the December 2025 festive season.

The suspensions took effect immediately as the authority intensified enforcement efforts across the country.

Operators Affected and Directives

Guardian Coach Limited

  • Flagged following a January 6, 2026 accident at Kimende on the Nairobi–Naivasha road
  • Ordered to present 24 vehicles for inspection at Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre
  • 18 drivers suspended for 90 days over speeding violations
  • Given 21 days to comply or risk licence revocation

Nanyuki Express Cab Services Ltd

  • Directed to submit 128 vehicles for compliance checks at Nyeri Inspection Centre
  • 26 drivers suspended for 90 days pending re-testing
  • Granted 21 days to meet conditions or face licence cancellation

Monna Comfort Sacco

  • Ordered to present 19 vehicles at Nakuru Inspection Centre
  • 26 drivers suspended for speeding violations
  • Operations suspended

Greenline Company Ltd

  • Required to present 33 vehicles at Likoni Inspection Centre
  • 29 drivers suspended for speeding
  • Operations suspended

Naekana Route 134 Sacco Ltd

  • Directed to submit 128 vehicles for inspection at Likoni/Machakos centres
  • 18 drivers suspended for 90 days
  • Operations suspended

Uwezo Coast Shuttle

  • Suspended from operations after failing to respond to NTSA summons

NTSA Warning

NTSA stated the crackdown targets operators who put passengers at risk by ignoring safety rules. The authority emphasized that enforcement will continue nationwide and non-compliant companies may face stricter penalties, including full deregistration.

Passengers were also warned against boarding vehicles belonging to suspended operators and advised to confirm PSV status before travel.
