The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a warning of moderate to heavy rainfall over Nairobi and surrounding counties, coinciding with the Idd-ul-Fitr celebrations.
According to the latest 24-hour forecast, rainfall will hit parts of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, with heavier showers expected in Dagoretti, Kibra, Embakasi, and Langata.
Kajiado County is also set to receive moderate to heavy rain, especially in the north and west, while Kiambu County will see showers in Gatundu North, Limuru, Kikuyu, and Kabete.
The alert follows KMD’s earlier forecast indicating that rainfall intensity would increase from Thursday, March 19, as the long rains season strengthens. The wet conditions are expected to continue across the Highlands, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, South-eastern Lowlands, and the Coastal region over the coming week.
Commuters and residents are advised to plan ahead, carry umbrellas, and expect slow traffic in rain-affected areas.
