Nairobi–Embakasi Village Commuter Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Embakasi Village

Via: Makadara, Donholm, Pipeline and adjoining Embakasi neighbourhoods.

The Embakasi route connects Nairobi CBD with residential, commercial and industrial areas in eastern Nairobi. Conventional commuter trains and Diesel Multiple Unit services may operate along this corridor.

Nairobi–Syokimau Commuter Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Syokimau

Via: Makadara and Imara Daima.

The Syokimau route connects Nairobi CBD with Imara Daima, Syokimau and adjoining areas within the southern Nairobi metropolitan corridor.

Nairobi–Limuru Commuter Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Limuru

Via: Kibera, Satellite, Dagoretti, Kikuyu and stations along the western railway corridor.

The Limuru route connects Nairobi CBD with western Nairobi, Kikuyu and Limuru. Passengers travelling to Kikuyu can use trains operating along this corridor.

Nairobi–Lukenya Commuter Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Lukenya

Via: Makadara, Imara Daima, Mlolongo and Athi River.

The Lukenya route connects Nairobi CBD with Mlolongo, Athi River and Lukenya. Passengers travelling to Athi River can use the service without completing the full journey to Lukenya.

Nairobi–Ruiru Commuter Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Ruiru

Via: Makadara, Mutindwa, Dandora, Mwiki, Githurai, Kahawa West and Kenyatta University.

The Ruiru route serves densely populated neighbourhoods in northern and northeastern Nairobi before reaching Ruiru town.

Some services may start or terminate at an intermediate station along the corridor.

Nairobi Central–Nairobi SGR Terminus Link Train

Route: Nairobi Central Railway Station ↔ Nairobi Terminus

Via: Makadara and the southern Nairobi railway corridor.

The following Nairobi railway lines are under construction, planning or development. They are not all available for regular passenger travel.

Riruta–Ngong Commuter Railway

Developing route: Riruta → Karen → Bulbul → Ngong.

The railway is intended to extend Nairobi’s commuter train network towards Karen, Bulbul and Ngong.

Later phases could extend the line from Ngong towards Kiserian and return towards Nairobi through Ongata Rongai.

Embakasi Village–Ruai Commuter Rail Extension

Proposed route: Embakasi Village → Utawala → Ruai.

This proposed extension would expand commuter railway access across eastern Nairobi and provide a train connection towards Utawala and Ruai.

Syokimau–JKIA Railway Extension

Proposed route: Syokimau → Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Nairobi–Mombasa SGR Inter-County Train

Route: Nairobi Terminus ↔ Mombasa Terminus

Via: Athi River, Emali, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Voi, Miasenyi and Mariakani.

Nairobi–Mombasa Afternoon Express Train

Route: Nairobi Terminus ↔ Mombasa Terminus

Via: Voi.

The Afternoon Express connects Nairobi and Mombasa with a scheduled stop at Voi. It makes fewer stops than the Inter-County Train.

Nairobi–Mombasa Night Express Train

Route: Nairobi Terminus ↔ Mombasa Terminus

Via: Voi.

The Night Express provides overnight travel between Nairobi and Mombasa. It makes a scheduled stop at Voi during the journey.

Nairobi Terminus–Suswa Leisure Train

Route: Nairobi Terminus ↔ Suswa

Via: Ongata Rongai, Ngong and Maai Mahiu.

Ngong–Nairobi Terminus Commuter Train

Route: Ngong ↔ Nairobi Terminus

Via: Ongata Rongai.

Nairobi–Nanyuki Safari Train

Route: Nairobi Central ↔ Nanyuki

Via: The Nairobi–Ruiru railway corridor and towns across central Kenya.

Mombasa Central–Mombasa SGR Terminus Commuter Train

Route: Mombasa Central Railway Station ↔ Mombasa Terminus

Via: Makupa Causeway, Changamwe and Miritini.
