NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 4 — The Milimani Law Courts has ordered the release of a vehicle belonging to a motorist identified as Gitau as he awaits the hearing of a case in which he is accused of driving without a valid licence.
Magistrate Paul Mutai directed that motor vehicle registration number KCV 050A be released to Gitau after considering his application.
Gitau pleaded not guilty to the charge arising from an incident reported on August 10, 2026, along Racecourse.

The court was told that he was driving without a valid licence and that the vehicle’s Road Service Licence had expired on August 1, 2026.
Kenya’s Traffic Act sets out the legal requirements governing driving licences and the licensing of motor vehicles operating on public roads.
Gitau was granted a bond of KSh20,000 or an alternative cash bail of KSh10,000.
Vehicle reportedly acquired through loan
In his application for the vehicle’s release, Gitau told the court that it had been acquired through a loan facility.
He asked the magistrate to allow him to continue using the vehicle to earn an income and meet his loan repayment obligations.
Magistrate Mutai subsequently ordered the vehicle released pending further proceedings in the case.
The matter will return to the Milimani Law Courts on September 17, 2026, for pre-trial directions. Gitau remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
