🔵 LIVE TRAFFIC UPDATE: Heavy Mid-Morning Traffic Grips Nairobi; Here Are Alternative Feeder Roads

ALSO CHECK LIVE UPDATES THIS HOUR

Heavy traffic continues to affect several major roads across Nairobi this mid-morning, resulting in slow-moving traffic and longer travel times for motorists.

Bunyala Road remains heavily congested, while Douglas Wakiihuri Road is also experiencing delays, with motorists taking about four minutes to navigate the affected stretch.

Uhuru Highway is recording an average speed of 16 km/h, indicating slow-moving traffic, while Enterprise Road remains one of the city’s most congested corridors, with vehicles averaging just 6 km/h. Butere Road is also heavily congested, with traffic moving at speeds of 12–13 km/h.

Along the Nairobi Expressway, the James Gichuru section is experiencing heavy traffic, although vehicles are maintaining a relatively better average speed of 23 km/h compared to nearby surface roads.

Despite the traffic congestion, weather conditions remain favorable for travel. Nairobi is experiencing mostly cloudy skies with cool temperatures of around 18°C, rising to a daytime high of approximately 23°C.

Suggested Alternative Feeder Roads

Motorists may consider the following alternative routes to avoid the worst congestion where practical:

  • Use Likoni Road or Lusaka Road to bypass sections of Enterprise Road.
  • Consider Haile Selassie Avenue, Landhies Road, or Mombasa Road service lanes where traffic conditions permit.
  • Motorists travelling towards Westlands may use Waiyaki Way service roads or Rhapta Road to avoid delays near James Gichuru.
  • Drivers heading through the Industrial Area should consider local access roads where available to reduce time spent on the main corridors.

Road users are advised to allow extra travel time, follow directions from traffic officers, and exercise patience as congestion persists across Nairobi’s major transport routes this mid-morning.
